Materials & craftsmanship

Every canopy is handcrafted from solid green oak using traditional pegged mortise-and-tenon joints — the same techniques used in oak buildings that have stood for centuries. We select characterful oak with attractive grain, and finish the roof in clay tile, natural slate or cedar shingle to match your home. The result is a structure that feels part of the house rather than bolted on.

Oak that weathers beautifully

Green oak needs no chemical treatment. Left natural it weathers gently to a silver-grey over the first few years, or it can be oiled to keep a warmer honey tone. Either way, an oak canopy is virtually maintenance-free and only grows in character with age, which is why oak has been used for building in the South East for many hundreds of years.
